Isaiah 40:31

But they that wait upon the LORD
shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings as eagles;
they shall run, and not be weary;
and they shall walk, and not faint.

John 4:14
But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him
shall never thirst;
but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water
springing up into everlasting life.

And Jesus Said,

Whosoever
committeth sin is the servant of sin,

and the servant abideth not in the house forever;

but the Son abideth ever,

if the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

John 8:34&35&36

Christianity and Slavery in America

(An Editorial, 2021 AD)

Presently, here in the United States, there’s an all-out assault on Christianity and Judaism, examples of blind hatred against men and women of faith and the Scriptures abounding.  Christians need to be alert.  Be alert to methods the enemy may use in an attempt to weaken your faith.

One area of attack—favored by the anti-Christian Left—has been to state falsely that the bible authorizes and encourages the practice of Slavery… This is libel.  The men and women promulgating this slander do not understand scripture and certainly do not know history; even a former President of the United States often voiced this outrageous fabrication.

The truth is… The Abolitionist movement was a Christian movement; it was Christianity that overcame the institution of Slavery here in America.  Slavery might still exist if not for Christians who laid down their lives and fortunes to fight against the greatest evil of their day.  The greatest heroes of the Abolitionist Movement were believers, including the great heroine Harriet Tubman.  Harriet Tubman was a devout Christian who periodically experienced strange visions and vivid dreams, which she ascribed to premonitions from God.  After escaping the brutality of Slavery, Harriet became an abolitionist and later an armed scout for the United States Army during the Civil War

Now, as to those libelous statements by that former President and his idolators… Does the bible condone Slavery?  The answer is…NO!  Nowhere in the Bible, Old Testament, or New Testament does GOD condone Slavery.  In biblical times Slavery was an institution, a job class.  GOD didn’t have a thing to do with the institution.  When GOD chose the Hebrew Nation to be his people, he demanded justice for slaves.  GOD chose a nation of slaves as his “chosen people,” one of the reasons being… they had been slaves and knew the horror of the lash.  Yahweh did not gather the Hebrew nation to himself and immediately overthrow all the established institutions that evil men—with freewill—had practiced for millennia.  He accepted the Hebrews as they were, backward and stiff-necked, and shaped them into a people, and all through the Old Testament, wherever the institution of Slavery is mentioned, the WORD of GOD modifies the practice.

GOD’s word does not change.  The Father—by his word—gave mankind free will.  And, his word is the same Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.  GOD will not interfere with the choices made by sinful man.  Although freewill does not seem to have been set in stone under the Old Testament, under the New Testament, GOD works through those who love him and only through that man or woman’s freewill… Never by force.  The Almighty would not force mankind—to whom he previously gave free will—to give up Slavery; that is the choice for sinful mankind to make

In His scriptures, Almighty GOD gave those who fear him guidelines that eliminated the harsh treatment slaves often endured.  And, where Slavery is mentioned—certainly in the New Testament—the scriptures admonish slave owners who are Christians to treat their slaves justly under pain of judgment… to treat their slaves as if they were brothers… Brothers in Christ.  The free nation of Israel, the Hebrew nation, never practiced Slavery—perhaps because of their own history—until they became corrupted by the greed and avarice of Roman Gentiles.  In the Roman World, Slavery was a job… a social class.  There were more slaves in the Roman Empire than free men.

Why did God allow Slavery to exist?

GOD does not come down from on high, forcing mankind to be good.  (Remember free will???)  HE encourages; HE gives laws that men and women are free to obey or disobey; He gave his followers the Holy Spirit.  Because of free will, everything is available to mankind… every good thing or every evil thing… men and women can love and cherish, or men and women can murder and rape.  It is up to each of us.

The HATERS like to point out that in the years leading up to the Civil War, the scriptures were liberally quoted to justify the existence of black Slavery in the Southern United States.  This is true.  Just as the HATERS of today are spreading their Libel about Christianity, a false interpretation of scripture was used by members of the Democrat party—the Political Party that upheld Slavery—and later their terror arm the KKK to assert that the institution of Slavery had GOD’s approval.  This is akin to the ridiculous fairy tale spread by elements within the Black Nationalist movement that goes… The White Race was created in a laboratory by a fair-skinned evil satanic scientist.  Democrats used their obscene interpretation of the bible to justify Slavery just as elements within Black Nationalism use their malevolent vision of Islam to promulgate their own RACE HUSTLE.   As a matter of fact, African Slavery still existed in the Middle East up until the 1960s And, Slavery exists in the Middle East even today.

The illustration above shows a lithograph of Theodore D. Weld (1803 to 1895).  While still a student, young Theodore Weld attended a Christian Revival meeting where he accepted Jesus as his savior and carried with him from that day forward a burden to work toward the elimination of Slavery in America.  As a result, he became the man Democrats and other pro-slavery voices HATED more than any other.  For thirty years before the Civil War, Christian Abolitionists such as Weld held up the torch of freedom for the world to see.  When his voice was used up from speaking out against the evils of Slavery, Theodore Weld wrote a book entitled, The Bible Against Slavery, which proved that the deliberate misinformation being spread by Copperheads* and others that the Bible approved of Slavery was a calumnious lie.

Note:  Copperheads were individuals in the North—mostly members of the Democrat Party and their labor union allies—who supported Southern  Democrats and Slavery.  They fought against Union objectives during the Civil War and favored leaving Slavery intact and ending the War with that detestable institution in place.  The word Copperhead was first used by the New York Tribune newspaper on July 20, 1861, in reference to the snake that sneaks and strikes without warning.

The modern haters justify their hatred for Christianity and their anti-Semite attitudes by falsely spreading the slander that the bible approves of Slavery.  They are either deliberately lying or do not understand the Scriptures, not unlike the former President mentioned above.

The Psychology of Faith

There are two forces within Gods’ creation, one is the God force, Faith and the other is the dark force, Fear.  Faith is the creative power of the cosmos.  Fear is the means by which Satan seeks to enslave the human mind.  Faith is the powerful side of the force, Fear is the weak dark side of the force.  Fear is the means by which Satan weakens faith.  One of the ways Satan accomplishes this is by getting men and women to give voice to their fears. Just as Faith comes by hearing yourself give voice to the Word of God over, and over, and over [“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”. (Romans 10:17 KJV)]  Fear also comes by hearing yourself give voice to your fears over, and over, and over.  Fear comes by hearing and hearing by words filled with fear.  Give voice to your Faith and not your Fears, [For we walk by Faith not by sight.  (2 Chronicles 5-7)].

One of the first things that happened when Adam and Eve were escorted out of the Garden of Eden was that they lost control of their tongues.  They began to give voice to their fears for the first time in their lives (they began to have fears for the first time in their lives).  They had separated themselves from God by their disobedience, and fear came.  They listened to Satan and fear is they way Satan operates.  Fear destroys faith.  Once out of the garden they began to speak their fears into existence, and in the second generation that fear led to murder.

We are all the descendents of Adam and Eve and like them we often loose control over our tongues.  We look outside and it is sprinkling and immediately out of petty annoyance we say “Its pouring out!”  “It’s raining cats and dogs!”  We see someone we dislike often for reasons we do not understand ourselves and we say,  “I can not stand that scum bag!”  Someone annoys us on the freeway and we remark, “I hope that idiot crashes and burns to death!”.   We have lost control of our tongue.  When calamity befell Job (The Book of Job) one of the things he said was, [For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.  (Job 3:25  KJV)].  Obviously Job was operating in fear and not just in fear but in great fear.  No doubt he had given voice to those fears over and over.  Satan works by getting you to destroy your own faith by giving voice over and over to your fears.

How do you defeat Satan at his own game.  Well, Jesus did it not by entering into discussion with him but by giving voice to the scriptures.  You can defeat Satan at his own game by giving voice to your faith and not your fear.  When it is sprinkling outside, say, “It is sprinkling outside.”.  When someone cuts you off on the road, say to your companion, “I hope that gentleman does not have an accident, he is driving too fast.”.  And always give voice to God’s Word over, and over, and over.

Have you heard of the Psychological concept of “Self Fulfilling Prophesy”?  Satan has.  He knows how the human spirit works.  A Self Fulfilling Prophesy is when a person gives voice over and over to his fears.  “I’ll never get anywhere in this job, this is a dead end job, only those with pull or influence get ahead here.”  “I’m such a loser, everything happens to me, if they were giving away money for free, I’d be in the wrong line”.  Do not allow Satan to defeat you like this.  Give voice to your faith even if at first you do not believe it.  Even if you do not believe it, God does.  God’s word can never be a lie.  So, give voice to your faith over and over and over until Faith comes.  Regain control over your own tongue.  Believe God, not the devil.

So then Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.  (Romans 10:17  KJV)
